Local Government Procurement is a bulk purchasing organisation as prescribed by the Local Government Act, undertaking tenders on behalf of the Local Government sector.

 

There are a number of aspects that LGP offers.  The main service is to undertake bulk purchasing arrangements on behalf of the industry, including:

  • the calling of tenders for goods and services on behalf of the industry
  • selecting suppliers
  • ongoing management of contracts, suppliers and the needs of councils.

LGP  offers councils a variety of tender related services.

Managed tenders

Often councils simply do not have the time to undertake tenders to best practice standards. LGP can undertake tenders on behalf of councils on a fee for service basis. This service ensures that council tenders are undertaken professionally, reducing council risk and providing the desired result in a cost effective manner.

Consulting

Similarly, LGP offers councils tendering and contract advice. Our specialist staff have the knowledge and skills within the sector. We are only a phone call away.

Professional development

LGP are very keen to build the expertise of council staff in the procurement area, including workshops and specific training sessions for council staff.

LGP Tendering and Purchasing Guide

LGP has developed a series of Purchasing and Tender documents for use by councils in New South Wales (The Guide). The suite of documents has taken many years to develop and have been scrutinised by a number of law firms and the Division of Local Government, Dept of Premier and Cabinet to ensure they meet the strict legislative and best practice requirements of NSW councils.

 

The suite of documents is extensive and contemporary. The content will be added to, or altered, as required by Legislation, or when best practice dictates that improvement is warranted.

 

Many councils will already have their own tender documents that can be combined with this suite to provide a very comprehensive tool for staff. Those councils that do not have a library of templates now have a ready made suite of documents that can be used immediately for tendering.
